Neighbor to Neighbor provides free food to individuals and families on both an emergency and supplemental basis.

While emergency clients are referred by numerous entities from the greater Greenwich area, our supplemental food clients are Greenwich residents qualified and referred by the Greenwich Department of Social Services, Family Center Head Start and RITE programs, Greenwich Public Schools and Pathways.

The “client choice” food pantry allows our clients to select their own food based on nutritional guidelines and personal preferences. We have moved beyond cans and now also offer whole wheat bread, meat, 2% milk and fresh vegetables.

By offering clients choices among nutritious foods we encourage them to feed their families well.

  • Neighbor to Neighbor gave out nearly 300,000 meals last year!
  • 129,000 of those meals went to children
  • 40% of the food is donated through individuals and organized food drives.

EMERGENCY FOOD

In order to become a client of Neighbor to Neighbor’s Emergency Food Services, you must be a resident of:

  • Greenwich
  • Stamford
  • Port Chester

You can be referred by one of the following agencies:

  • a social service agency
  • school
  • religious organization such as a church or synagogue
  • RITE Program
  • Greenwich Public Schools
  • Pathways

1. Your referring agent must fill out a client referral form. Click for Client Referral Form

2. There is no need to make an appointment.

3. The referring agent must fill out the appropriate information on the second page of the referral form.

4. Please bring the referral form directly to the clothing reception area.

SUPPLEMENTAL FOOD

3. You will need to check-in at the clothing reception area, where you will receive a print-out and be directed to the food pantry. A volunteer will give you a nutritionally-based shopping list and then you are free to shop.

4. After you have completed your shopping, please see a volunteer at the check-out desk.

5. Volunteers will bag your groceries and make certain you have selected the proper quantities in the categories suggested on the shopping lists.
